Parlan McGaw (AEA, SAG-AFTRA) has acted with the New York Shakespeare Festival, the Old Globe Theatre, Virginia Stage Company, and other theatres in New York and regionally, and he made his film debut in Todd Haynes’s Poison. He has been an authorized meditation teacher in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition since 1993. With master acting teacher Michael Howard he codirected two weeklong retreats for actors at Karme Choling Meditation Center in Vermont, and he has taught Meditation for Actors at the Michael Chekhov Acting Studio in New York and at the Michael Howard Studios in weekend programs and in their summer conservatory.

“Parlan McGaw’s leadership in meditation practice (he and I codirected two retreats for actors) is extraordinarily useful in strengthening core elements of the actor’s craft: concentration, awareness, relaxation.”
